Calling all designers, developers, makers, and entrepreneurs! Come spend the weekend with us learning how to design, prototype, and develop an augmented reality app with an amazing user experience! In this workshop, we will explore what it takes to create an ARKit project from an idea to a great user experience. We will cover the basics of AR, and the differences between mobile AR, headset AR, and VR. We will also dive deep into the mindset necessary to quickly build an AR application, without getting bogged down by rapid prototyping and development. This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of spacial UX, AR design, and AR development. You will leave with a new knowledge of the augmented world, the ability to build a simple AR portal to an "alternate reality", a new network of passionate people and a great start to your AR future.

Austin McCasland is a Senior UX designer at Westfield Retail Solutions, and focusses on traditional media, VR, and AR. He has given talks and created courses around designing for emerging media such as VR and AR.
